Pitching Clinics

Our pitching clinics are led by experienced pitching coaches and run from early Fall through the Spring, as well as one Summer clinic. We offer clinics for beginners and intermediates. The beginner clinic is designed for players who have never pitched or have only pitched sparingly. The intermediate clinic is designed for players who have pitched a reasonable amount and have pitched in games.


Eligibility

These clinics are for girls in Grade 3 through Grade 8 who are interested in pitching or becoming better pitchers.

Format

The Pitching Clinic instructions include the basics of proper mechanics, correct footwork, arm circle, posture, grips for pitching. Age specific skills are taught, along with drills for accuracy, movement and power.


Where

The March clinics are held indoors at the Milton Academy - Caroline Saltonstall Gymnasium.

The April, May and July clinics are held outdoors at Kelly Field.

The September clinics are held outdoors at Andrews Park.


Important Note

Girls need to bring their own catcher – an adult or player. Catcher should bring bucket to sit on (if you have one), 1-2 softballs, and a small white towel to simulate home plate.

Pitching Coach - Christina Berardi

For over a decade, Berardi has coached collegiate level softball at Southern New Hampshire University, Queens College New York, and Stony Brook University, specializing in pitching instruction. Prior to coaching, Berardi spent four years as a starting pitcher at Long Island University-Post. During her impressive 63-win career, she posted a 1.58 ERA with 469 strikeouts.

Berardi is a three-time AIl-ECC award winner and led her team to a pair of Division II World Series appearances and two ECC championships. Prior to her college career, Berardi helped the Bridgewater-Raynham Trojans win an Old Colony League Championship and received Hall of Fame and All-Scholastic awards.

Milton High School Varsity Pitchers

We have partnered with experienced Milton High School Varsity pitchers to run clinics for girls who would like to learn more about pitching or have only pitched sparingly.

Pitching Coach - Ashley Besse

Ashley has been a pitching coach at Wellesley College, Pine Manor and Bentley. 

Besse played collegiate softball at Division II Southern New Hampshire University, where she was a four-year starter for the Penmen. She was named the SNHU Female Athlete of the Year in 2007, and also earned spots on the Northeast-10 All-Conference and the NCAA Regional All-Tournament teams in her career. Besse picked up 35 wins as a pitcher for the Penmen, with a career batting average of .320. Prior to her arrival at SNHU, Besse was named the Massachusetts Gatorade Softball Player of the Year in both 2004 and 2005 while playing for Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton, Mass.

Fall Intermediate Pitching

The Fall intermediate pitching clinic with Christina Berardi runs for four (4) sessions.

The intermediate clinic is designed for players who have pitched a reasonable amount and have pitched in games.

The Fall beginner pitching clinic with Christina Berardi runs for four (4) sessions.
