The Dodgers and the Blue Jays battled for the 2012 Sophomore Division Championship. The Dodgers prevailed by a score of 13-7.  The team on a mission completed its journey Saturday at Gile Field. The Dodgers took an early lead on some big hits by Claire A., Kathleen R, Maeve N, and Reece J. But the Blue Jays battled back and took a 5-4 lead after 2 innings. The game remained close until the top of the 5th where the Dodgers exploded for four runs led by key at bats by Danielle N, Lucy S., Kate M. and Katherine B. From that point the ace of the Dodgers staff - Emily A. -  took over. Emily A. - the Dodgers playoff MVP - held the high powered Blue Jays to only 2 runs over 3 innings. The Dodgers clinched the victory by scoring 3 more in the top of the 6th.  With Maeve N. and Emily A. on base, Kailey M. overcame a hand injury to draw a crucial walk. This set the stage for Olivia M. who delivered the biggest hit of her young career. Olivia smashed a bases clearing double that clinched the Championship for the Dodgers.   Another great team effort by the Dodgers!

The never say die Dodgers worked out of a bases loaded - no out jam in the bottom of the 6th to pull one out in extra innings. The Dodgers were led again by the strong pitching of Emily A. but it was a TEAM EFFORT that gets the Dodgers into the Finals!
Final scoreDodgers 12, Nationals 10.

The game of the night featured the Tigers and the Blue Jays.  The Tigers lost to the Blue Jays Thursday night 16-15.  A very tough battle that lasted 9 innings! and was almost called because of darkness.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 7-0 lead at the end of two innings  when Bridget L, Shae B. and Caroline E. scored 3 runs in the 1st. In the 2nd it was Choe A., Marilyn C., Ally M., Lindsey D., and Clare F. hitting for 4 more runs in the 2nd.

The Blue Jays then showed why they were the #1 seed, shutting down the Tigers with 3 straight K's. and scoring 4 runs of their own to end the 3rd inning 7-3. Caroline E., Lindsey D. and Clare F. worked the bases to squeeze in 1 run at the top of the 4th and the Tigers ace Marilyn C. came out and shut down the Jays with three straight K's  of her own to end the 4th.

With the score 7-4 Tigers the Jays bats came alive in the 5th for 3 runs and the Tigers went down w/3 more K's to end the 5th. Chloe A. lead off the top of the long 6th with a single and the Tigers loaded the bases when Ally M. and Clare F. managed infield hits to score 3 runs for the Tigers. The Tigers defense couldn't hold the Jays in the bottom of the 6th giving up 4 more runs to the Jays to tie it up 11-11and send the game into extra innings.

The Tigers scored 4 runs in the top of the 7th. but the Jays answered back with 4 of their own in the bottom of the inning to tie it up yet again.  The Jays flexed their defensive muscles and held the Tigers scoreless in the top of the 8th but the Tigers came out and made a couple of nice stops to blank the Jays and send it to the dark 9th inning. The Jays sent their ace Jillian back to the mound and the Tigers went down with 3 K's.  The Jays lead off the inning with a double in the gap and 2 infield hits to load the bases. The count went full before the Tigers gave up a walk to end the longest game in the Sophomore Division history.

Both teams should be very proud, they battled every pitch the whole game.  Final score: Blue Jays 16, Tigers 15.
